How it came into existence
Formed when the Pooled Development Funds Registration Board, which the Venture Capital Act 2002 (assented to on 19 December 2002) made responsible for registering venture capital limited partnerships and Australian venture capital funds of funds, was renamed to reflect its wider role. The rename is placed here in 2002 but its exact date has not been confirmed; the Venture Capital Act as made still names the PDF Board, and later versions of the Act name the Venture Capital Registration Board.
Legislation: Pooled Development Funds Act 1992; Venture Capital Act 2002
How it ended
Abolished on 27 September 2007, when amendments to the Industry Research and Development Act 1986 renamed the Industry Research and Development Board as Innovation Australia and transferred the Venture Capital Registration Board's roles and powers to it.
